In the spirit of innovation and with a will to comply with the increasingly strict regulations in the HVAC&R market, Ariston is constantly on a mission to improve the efficiency and performance of its products. To achieve these goals, Ariston Group’s R&D department relies on predictive engineering simulation and uses Siemens Simcenter™ Amesim™ as its chosen 0D/1D system simulation tool.

With Simcenter Amesim, users can swiftly assess the viability of a new design and its energy efficiency, long before prototype availability. While a more traditional engineering approach would have Ariston rely mainly on test campaigns to explore new product performance, Simcenter Amesim avoids those costly trial-and-error loops during product development.
System simulation speeds up the engineering process and helps the R&D office quickly discard the least-performing designs, reaching the desired product outcome in less time.
“Compared to other simulation solutions, we appreciate the fact that Simcenter Amesim contains pre-validated, multi-domain component models and ready-to-use layouts: they save us time when building our simulation models, and adapt very well to our analysis needs”, says Mr. Doria.
With a simple drag-and-drop procedure, users can quickly assemble a virtual prototype that resembles their product.
“Simcenter Amesim is easy to use and provides highly accurate results”, he continues.
A successful partnership
For the selection and purchase of the software, Ariston Group relied on BSIM Engineering, a certified Siemens Expert Partner, who manages distribution, user support, and training for several Siemens products.
“We first met BSIM when we were scouting for a 0D/1D simulation tool. They provided us with all the needed information on how the software works, and how to best employ it for our applications”, explains Alessio Pietrella – Numerical simulation senior specialist, Area Innovation in Ariston Group.
Then, once Ariston Group selected Simcenter Amesim as the reference tool for this type of simulation, BSIM successfully managed all training activities for their new users.
When asked about the ongoing collaboration with BSIM’s technical team, Mr. Doria is quick to reply:
